We supply Custom Neodymium Button Magnets fully encapsulated in a durable Plastic (ABS/Polypropylene) or Rubberized shell.
Standard plated magnets are brittle and prone to chipping upon impact.
Meanwhile, these plastic-coated buttons are engineered for Durability and Surface Protection.
The thick plastic casing acts as a shock absorber.
Allows the magnets to snap together with full force without cracking.
Additionally, the casing provides a hermetic waterproof seal.
Makes them ideal for outdoor gear, marine applications, and high-traffic office environments.
Why Plastic Coating?
This is the only magnet finish that adds structural strength to the raw material.
1. The “Shock Absorber” Effect (Shatterproofing):
The Problem:
Raw Neodymium is a ceramic.
If two strong magnets slam together, they will shatter or chip, sending dangerous shrapnel flying.
The Solution:
The plastic shell (typically 0.5mm โ 1.0mm thick) absorbs the impact energy.
These magnets are effectively unbreakable under normal use.
Make them safe for consumer products, classrooms, and workshops.
2. Surface Protection (No Scratches):
The Problem:
A Nickel-plated magnet is harder than paint or glass.
Sliding it across a whiteboard or a car door will leave scratches.
The Solution:
The plastic/rubber coating is softer than the mounting surface.
It provides high grip (friction) without damaging the substrate.
3. Total Waterproofing:
The Benefit:
Unlike plating which can have pinholes, plastic encapsulation is a continuous physical barrier.
These magnets can be submerged in water, mud, or saltwater indefinitely without rusting.

The Math:
If you order a “10mm x 5mm” magnet, the plastic coating adds approx. 1mm to the overall size.

– Do the dimensions provided refer to the Inner Magnet or the Total Finished Size?
– This is the #1 source of confusion.
2). Shell Type:
– Hard Plastic: (Slicks, slides easily, very durable).
– Rubberized: (Grippy, resists sliding, soft touch).
3). Color:
– Black is standard.
– Custom colors (RAL) require higher minimum order quantities.
4). Shape:
– Button (Disc), Block, or Custom Mold?
