We can make L-shaped Neodymium magnets built to your specifications.
Whether you need prototypes for a motor or larger quantities for sensors, we deliver the exact size and shape you need.
L-shaped magnets can be made two ways:
– Solid one-piece magnets for strength and rigidity
– Glued pieces for larger sizes at lower cost
We choose the best method for your project to balance price, accuracy, and performance.
Construction Options
1. Monolithic (One-Piece):
Manufactured from a single block of material.
Best for:
– High-precision applications
– High-speed rotors
– Applications requiring uniform magnetic field distribution.
Advantage:
– Superior structural strength and seamless appearance.
2. Spliced / Glued Assembly:
Constructed by bonding rectangular blocks with high-performance industrial adhesives.
Best for:
– Large-scale magnetic separation
– Holding assemblies
– Or cost-sensitive projects.
Advantage:
– Reduces material waste and lowers tooling costs for large sizes.
Technical Specifications & Capabilities
Grades Available:
– Standard N35โN52
– Plus High-Temp Series (M, H, SH, UH, EH, AH).
Dimensional Tolerance:
– Standard ยฑ0.05mm.
– Precision tolerances (ยฑ0.02mm) available upon request.
Size Range: From micro-precision parts (2mm leg width) to large industrial blocks.
Aspect Ratio: Capable of supplying thin-wall L-shapes (subject to engineering review).
Engineering & Design Guidance
1. Corner Geometry (Fillets vs. Sharp Corners)
Sintered Neodymium is naturally brittle.
For one-piece L-magnets, the internal 90ยฐ corner is a stress point.
Our Recommendation:
Unless your housing requires a dead-sharp corner, we suggest allowing a small Internal Radius (R0.2mm – R0.5mm).
This greatly increases the magnet’s durability during shipping and assembly.
Note:
If a sharp corner is mandatory, we have specific fabrication lines to achieve this.
2. Chamfers
To prevent edge chipping, we apply standard chamfers to all outer edges unless “sharp edge” is specified.
Magnetization Orientation
The orientation of an L-shape defines its function.
We supply all standard orientations:
– Through Thickness: Poles are on the largest flat surfaces (Standard for mounting).
– Lateral / Axial: Poles are on the ends of the legs.
– Custom / Multi-Pole: Available for specific sensor or holding force requirements.
Surface Treatments
We can offer multiple coating and plating options:
– Nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni): Standard indoor use.
– Zinc (Zn): Good corrosion resistance, slightly lower cost.
– Epoxy (Black/Grey): Excellent impact resistance and adhesion if you plan to glue the magnet.
– Parylene / PTFE: For specialized medical or high-reliability electronics.
Logistics & Packaging
Shipping irregular shapes requires attention.
We ensure your magnets arrive intact and ready for assembly.
Protective Packaging:
– We use spacers and vacuum formatting.
– Prevent L-shaped magnets from snapping together or chipping corners during transit.
Lead Time:
– Prototypes: Quick-turn options available (approx. 7โ12 days).
– Volume Production: 20โ30 days depending on grade and complexity.
– MOQ: Flexible support for both R&D pilots and full container loads.
