Frequently Asked Questions before Working with Osenc

This page is a list of frequently asked questions about Osenc. They include the aspects of Osenc as a neodymium magnet supplier, and the custom magnets as well.

Reading these questions and answers will let you know more about us, and will help you better understand why Osenc is worth considering to be your magnet supplier.

1. Magnets Osenc offers

1). What types of magnets Osenc offers?

We define ourselves as a neodymium magnet supplier, though technically speaking, Osenc has the ability to offer magnets made from multiple materials:

  • Neodymium magnets, SmCo magnets, AlNiCo magnets, ceramic magnets, etc.

However, Osenc prefers to focus on fewer magnets so we can be better than average suppliers in the market. For this reason, we define ourselves as a neodymium magnet supplier.

Of course, if you trust Osenc and wish to see whether we can do something for you, it is always more than happy to try our best for you. We don’t easily say no to customers before doing anything.

2). What’s the tolerance for magnets?

Generally speaking, Osenc offers regular neodymium magnets with a default tolerance +/- 0.05 mm.

Meanwhile, micro magnets that are very tiny, requiring a much higher precision, have a much smaller tolerance +/- 0.005 mm.

As an expert in custom magnets, Osenc will pay attention to the balance between tolerance and costs, and will surely suggest an appropriate tolerance based on your applications and expectations.

3). What are the maximum dimensions?

Usually, you will need to consider our maximum size when you are looking for big magnets (strong magnets).
There are 2 maximum sizes for our magnets, depending on which shape.

  • Rectangular shapes have a maximum size of 250 mm
  • Disc shapes have a maximum size of 300 mm

However, if we think out of the box and focus on the solution for your application, rather than the magnet itself, we can offer even bigger maximum sizes using a kind of magnetic assembly Halbach array.
Send Osenc an email about your project and let us study and propose a solution if either a big magnet or a Halbach array will be what you need.

4). What are the minimum dimensions?

The minimum size is important for micro magnets. They are usually as small as 1 – 2 mm, and even go below 1 mm till the minimum size of 0.2 mm that Osenc can offer so far.
But innovation is one of our most important priorities, so please do let us know if you need tiny magnets that are even smaller than 0.2 mm. We will do our best.

5). Which grades of neodymium magnets available?

Regarding technical possibilities, Osenc can offer magnets of a complete range of grades – from N35 to N55. The key point is always the balance between cost and effectiveness.
Besides telling Osenc directly which grade you need, it is always helpful for you to specify a little bit about your applications. We may advise better solutions based on our knowledge and experience.
Quality is surely important, but you don’t need a Ferrari to run at 60 km/h.

6). What is the minimum order quantity?

The concept of minimum order quantity is important for manufacturing standard magnets, because it has a significant impact on various types of cost.
Osenc is a supplier focusing on custom neodymium magnets. Instead of thinking about how to spread the manufacturing cost, we think more about the value that our magnets bring to our customers.
Based on this operational philosophy, we always try our best to offer the most convenience for our customers about ordering quantities. The minimum order quantity can be only 1 piece for Osenc.

7). What coatings are available for the surface treatment of magnets?
Truth be told, Osenc outsources the procedures of surface treatment to those technique sub-suppliers (also ISO 9001 certified).
On the one hand, it requires a big investment for a coating line; on the other hand, we are a custom magnet supplier and need various types of surface treatment.
Thanks for the cooperation of our sub-suppliers, Osenc can offer a wide range of premium surface treatment options: Nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni), Zinc (Zn), Chrome, Gold (Ni-Cu-Au), Epoxy, Plastic, PTFE, Parylene, etc.

2. Certification & qualifications

1). Do you have any quality certifications?

Yes, this is fundamental for quality assurance. The parent company of Osenc has ISO 9001 and ISO 16949 certificates.
Besides quality certifications, we also have people who used to work for professional third-party quality inspection companies. This is a double assurance for quality management.

2). What tests do you have for your magnets?

We won’t say that we take quality as one of our top priorities if our magnets don’t even pass those fundamental and mandatory tests.
Some tests are fundamental for quality assurance, and we do them regularly in our lab. Meanwhile, some tests are for compliance required by the customers and the governing laws and regulations.
Osenc can provide the test reports listed below for our magnets. Just let us know which one you may need.

3). How Osenc assures business compliance?

Osenc company has obtained an export license issued by the government and collects payments using an account under the same company profile.
A company will need to obtain an export license for international business, which is issued by the government in China. This license gives permission to an exporter to ship goods out.
Most exporters in China have this export license. However, there are still some companies without it for international business. This may bring troubles for shipping the goods out of China to your destination in another country.
Meanwhile, some companies collect payments using accounts opened in HongKong, while shipping the goods from mainland China. This can also bring potential troubles to the shipment.

3. Customer services

1). What is the best way to get in touch with Osenc?

The best way is to send us an email by filling out the form on the contact page. As a rule of thumb, the more details you provide, the better. Knowing all the details will help us work out the best quote within the 1st reply.
Usually, we will reply a few hours after you send the email out. It may take a little bit more time during the weekend, but we will still try our best to reply within the same day.

2). How to get an accurate and quick quote from Osenc?

Similarly, the best way to receive an accurate and quick quote is to let Osenc know more details about the magnets you need. It will help us eliminate guesswork.
First of all, you can specify these parameters if possible: Dimension, grade, coating, magnetic direction, tolerance, etc.
Second, if not possible, please describe the applications – like working environment, temperatures, etc.
Third, attaching a technical sketch will be a very helpful addition.

3). Can I buy a sample before placing a formal purchase order?

Yes, sure, you can buy a sample before buying more. This is a common practice for many customers who work with Osenc.
Buying a magnet to make sure it works properly is a very good practice for both you as a buyer and Osenc as a seller. You don’t need a product that doesn’t work, and we are not happy if what we sell doesn’t fit.

4). Which payment methods Osenc accepts?

Generally speaking, Osenc accepts a wide range of payment methods, including those commonly used around the world – T/T, Western Union, MoneyGram, PayPal, etc.
This is negotiable and Osenc will do our best to make it easy for our customers. Just let Osenc know if you will need to use a specific payment method not listed here.

4. Shipping magnets

1). What is the lead time?

Osenc can ship the magnets immediately after payment arrives if the magnets you need are the same as what we have in stock.
And samples are usually ready for shipment 3 – 5 working days after the confirmation date, in case what you need is not in our stock.
Last, as a rule of thumb, the lead time will be 7 – 15 days for production orders, depending on the order quantities.

2). Which shipping method is available?

For regular magnets, we can ship by EMS, UPS, DHL, TNT, FedEx, etc. Typically, the packages take about 1 week to arrive at most destinations around the world.
For big magnets, which have very strong magnetic fields, we advise shipping them by sea. It will reduce shipping costs dramatically.
Again, this is negotiable depending on your expectations.

3). How Osenc assures smooth deliveries for the magnets?

Probably you may not know that magnets are not as easy to ship as those regular average consumer products. In some cases, you can find a manufacturer who can make the magnet for you, but they can’t ship it to you.
Better to pick a supplier with sufficient knowledge and experience with shipping magnets to various destinations around the world. This is especially helpful for big magnets and micro magnets.
To assure smooth deliveries, Osenc will pack the magnets properly to make sure their magnetic fields will be under the minimum acceptable value, and also will double check by simulation test with our tesla gauss meter.
After that, we will also send the packages to the appointed inspection office for the mandatory IATA test, and next ship the magnets out with the IATA report. This will make sure there won’t be an issue regarding documentation.
Last but not least, some exporters operate under different company profiles, and different information on business documents may lead to delays in customs clearance for entering the destination country. On the contrary, Osenc has only one company profile for all business documents, which won’t bring you unnecessary issues.
