We supply N54 Neodymium disc magnetsโthe highest grade commercially available.
Designed for applications where space is limited but you need maximum magnetic power.
Available in custom sizes from ร 1mm (micro-discs) up to ร 50mm.
N54 offers approximately 8โ10% higher holding force than standard N52.
When your design can’t get any larger but needs more strength, N54 is the solution.
The “N54” Advantage (Power Density)
Why choose N54 over N35 or N52?
Max Energy Product:
– N54 (approx. 52-55 MGOe) delivers the peak magnetic performance of Sintered NdFeB technology.
The Size Benefit:
– An N54 magnet can often match the pull force of an N35 magnet that is 40% larger in volume.
– This allows you to miniaturize housings, sensors, and actuators without losing functionality.
Application Advice: Temperature & Stability
Is N54 right for your project?
While N54 is the strongest grade, it is optimized for room-temperature environments.
Temperature Limit:
– Standard N54 grades typically have a maximum operating temperature of 60ยฐC – 80ยฐC.
– Above this, they risk irreversible flux loss.
Recommendation:
– If your application runs hot (e.g., inside a high-speed motor or near a battery), please consult us.
– We may suggest a slightly lower grade (N50 or N48H) to ensure thermal stability.
Magnetization Directions
We customize the magnetic field orientation to suit your sensor or holding requirement:
Axial:
– Magnetized through the thickness (Faces are N/S).
– Standard for holding.
Diametric:
– Magnetized across the diameter.
– Essential for rotational sensors and micro-turbines.
Deviation Angle:
– For high-precision sensors, we can control the magnetic angle deviation to within < 2ยฐ.
Surface Treatments (Crucial for N54)
Higher grades like N54 have a different chemical composition (higher Neodymium content).
For this reason, they are slightly more prone to oxidation.
– Ni-Cu-Ni (Triple Layer): The industry standard for durability.
– Zinc (Zn): Good for cost-sensitive projects, but less durable than Nickel.
– Epoxy (Black/Grey): Highly recommended for N54 if used in humid environments or if the magnet is glued (better adhesion).
– Parylene / Gold: Recommended for micro-discs (1mm-5mm) used in medical or wearable tech.
Safety & Handling (Size Dependent)
Small Discs (1mm – 10mm):
– Packed in plastic tubes or vacuum trays.
– Use non-magnetic tweezers for assembly.
Medium Discs (20mm – 50mm):
– Warning: An N54 magnet of this size is dangerous.
– It will pinch fingers severely and can shatter upon impact.
– We ship these with heavy-duty spacers and shielded packaging.
Ordering Guide
To provide a precise N54 quotation, please specify:
1). Dimensions: Diameter x Thickness.
2). Magnetization: Axial or Diametric?
3). Application Temp: Does the environment exceed 60ยฐC? (Critical for N54).
4). Coating: Preferred finish?
