The EP50 Series is our versatile “all-rounder” magnetic workholding solution.
They are suitable for CNC Machining Centers.
They come with a refined 50×50 mm magnetic pole grid.
This series bridges the gap between light-duty milling and heavy-slab machining.
Each pole can offer a generated clamping force of 380 kgf.
The EP50 can hold medium-to-small workpieces that larger magnetic chucks often miss.
It is the ideal choice for workshops that require:
– High flexibility for drilling, tapping, and contour milling on workpieces as thin as 10 mm.
Why Choose the EP50 Grid?
The “Sweet Spot” for Size:
Larger poles (like 70 mm) are stronger for massive slabs.
But the EP50’s tighter grid (50 mm) allows for more magnetic contact points on smaller surface areas.
This ensures a secure hold on workpieces as small as 250×250 mm without needing auxiliary blocking.
Thinner Plate Capability:
The magnetic flux depth of the EP50 is controlled to penetrate approximately 10 mm into the steel.
This allows you to machine thinner plates (10 mm−20 mm).
Meanwhile, the magnetic field does not penetrate all the way through the part.
And does not interfere with the cutting tool or chips either.
Ideal for Mold Bases & Components:
The dense pole distribution provides exceptional rigidity.
Reduces vibration and chatter during the high-speed machining typical of mold base manufacturing.
Essential “Pro-Tips” for Operators
Using Pole Extensions (Mobile Blocks):
Highly recommend using our optional Spring-Loaded Pole Extensions with this unit.
These extensions lift the workpiece off the chuck face, allowing you to:
– Perform through-hole drilling and boring without damaging the chuck surface.
– Automatically shim uneven stock (like black-bar or rough castings) to create a perfectly flat machining plane.
– Machine on 5 sides freely without clamp interference.
Material Considerations:
The rated holding force (380 kgf/pole) is based on low-carbon steel (like Mild Steel/A36).
Please note that high-alloy steels or cast iron may result in a slightly reduced holding force (typically 20-30% less) due to their magnetic properties.
The EP50’s high flux density helps compensate for this better than standard magnets.
Air Gap Tolerance:
The EP50 design is forgiving of “Normal Operating Air Gaps”.
That means it can securely hold raw stock that isn’t perfectly ground.
However, for the highest precision, ensuring a relatively flat contact surface will maximize holding power.
Standard Supply (What is included?)
The EP50 system is delivered as a “Plug-and-Play” kit.
It requires no internal machine modifications.
1). 1x Magnetic Chuck Module: Fully sealed, water-proof, and oil-proof (IP67 rated).
2). 1x Electro-Permanent Controller: Manages the Magnetize/Demagnetize cycles safely.
3). 1x Handheld Remote: Allows the operator to activate the chuck from a safe distance.
4). Cabling Set: Includes heavy-duty 3-meter power and control cables with quick-disconnect waterproof connectors.
Customization Options
Extended Cabling:
For large Gantry or Double-Column machines, we can provide custom cable lengths to reach your control station.
